Our History
Rimfire Energy is a privately-owned electricity business that has been operating in the Northern Territory since 2014. With more than 40 years of relevant electricity industry experience, we are the fastest growing electricity retailer servicing the Northern Territory market.
Our team is here to provide you with competitive energy and to drive competition in the energy supply sector. We aim to reduce the cost of electricity for all our customers by providing them with lower prices, by discovering better ways to deliver energy and by educating them on how they can efficiently consume their electricity.
We offer some of our Territory customers with discounted pricing below the regulated tariff. In addition, our competitive, customised price offerings have helped our customers save tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars on their electricity bills each year.
Price competition is important, but so too is delivering a great customer experience. At Rimfire Energy, establishing and maintaining a good relationship with our customers is important to us. We consider it a critical aspect of our service offering. This is why we have gained customers in all segments of the market, ranging from small domestic and small business to large business customers.
Meet Our Leadership Team
Michael Allen brings more than 30 years of experience to Rimfire Group. In addition to establishing the electricity retail, project development and solar PV installation businesses of Rimfire Group, this includes as the former Executive General Manager of Finance & CFO for a tier one electricity company operating in the National Electricity Market. Prior to this, Michael held a variety of senior positions representing developers and banks across energy, resources and industry based in Australia and Asia.
Allan Duffell brings over 20 years of Risk and Compliance, and electricity retail experience to the Rimfire Group, including stints with SP Ausnet and Energy Australia and most recently as
Compliance Manager with Lasseters Casino in Alice Springs.
Dawn Payne brings more than 15 years of solar energy experience to Rimfire Group, most recently as the Commercial Sales Manager for Australia’s largest independent suppliers of commercial solar energy and power cost saving technology. Dawn was responsible for developing several commercial scale solar PV systems within the Northern Territory and has been instrumental in growing Rimfire’s solar installation business to its current position of one of the largest solar PV installers in the NT and the preferred installer for a number of the NT’s large business groups.
Kim Howlett brings more than 23 years of power generation experience to Rimfire Group, most recently as the Regional Manager for the Northern Territory overseeing an engineering team for the design and commissioning of numerous power generation systems in the Northern Territory, including the development of Rimfire’s 10MW ac solar generation facility at Batchelor, NT and Rimfire’s 12.5 MW gas-fired power station at Hudson Creek.
Ben brings over 10 years of sales and business development experience to Rimfire Group, most recently as Managing Director of Ampol, fuel retail outlet in Central Australia, overseeing all aspects of the business, successfully competing in a market heavily saturated by corporate retail groups. Bens customer communication skills and strong relationship management experience in business-to-business environments supports Rimfire Group’s commitment to customer focus and long-term relationship building.

Our Finance and Operations Manager
Alex Choy has more than 35 years of experience in the specific electricity industry. This includes a broad mix of technical, financial, operational, and analytical functions, including operational processes, settlements, treasury, accounting, and reporting.
Maria Iglesias
Finance Manager
Maria has worked more than 10 years in accounting in both chartered accounting and corporate environments. Maria brings to Rimfire Group experience covering finance and management reporting, payroll and accounts payable/receivable in industries including utilities, tech startups and healthcare. Maria’s experience covering different industries and including startups, supports Rimfire Group’s diverse and fast growing business.
